The kids are still in grade school, yet somehow you managed to undress the house for more than 7 school hours long. For a max of two days and one night (or if you’re lucky three days and two nights), if you did staycation right, you were served on hand and foot by Uber Eats, you paid top dollar to have your manicurist do a home visit and you reserved the maid service that your friend with no kids use weekly to come in on this once in your mommy-lifetime opportunity and pretend to tidy-up since you already tidied before they came to avoid the embarrassment of having a “filthy home.”
At first, you feel tranquility and peace – the emotions you go through right before dread and agony invades and completely takes over on the last day of your staycation. You want to feel good about your life returning back to normal, but you’re equally resistant to answering to the knocks on the door. You’re confused. “Why am I feeling like this,” you ask yourself frantically.
Here’s 3 whys and the solutions packed with them:
- You have to return back to work in the morning!
- SOLUTION: Take the following day off to get good and ready for a work week of productivity. Shortening your work week right after being on a recess is a smart way to transition back into work is sensible for a few reasons I can think of: you will have lesser regrets about returning to work, not starting your dream business, or pursuing your modeling career before the mommy pouch. AND DON’T FEEL GUILTY ABOUT IT!!!
- You think you’ll never get to relax like that again!
- SOLUTION: Treat yourself regularly. The reason we oftentimes feel we need to “get away from it all” is because we are too attached to routines that drives us crazy! Some routines may be inevitable, therefore you can’t just walk away; drizzle in a new routine that is about you and only you as often as you feel you need QT alone.
- You fail to plan for the next go round!
- SOLUTION: As soon as your staycation has ended, start preparing for and planning the next one. Don’t wait for the Sugar Honey Iced Tea to hit the fan, be proactive about your happiness and peace. Additionally, you will always have something to look forward to.
